Lessons from Champions: How Mahomes & Clark Can Make You a Better Leader

What a Master class in excellence! 🎓 Delivered by Caitlin Clark & Patrick Mahomes.
🏈 Patrick Mahomes recently led the KC Chiefs to their 3rd Superbowl victory in 5 seasons. He is the 1st player ever to win 3 Superbowl MVPs and 2 NFL MVPs before the age of 30.
🏀 Caitlin Clark recently hit 3,569 career points breaking the previous NCAA women's basketball record. She's had 59 career games with at least 25 points, 5 assists & 5 rebounds — also an NCAA record.
There’s much we can learn from their extraordinary performances:

🔷 Clark’s signature play is a deep 3-pointer, typically shot from 4 ft. farther than the 3 pt. line. She has attempted 351 3-point shots, more than double the average of the other top 50 women's NCAA players.
🔷 Mahomes' unconventional throwing mechanics and his no-look, sidearm, and flip passes have tossed the QB playbook out the window. This makes him unpredictable and able to make plays no matter the situation.
𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒖𝒔 – Sometimes game-changing moves are the ones no one saw coming. Embrace creativity and challenge the status quo. Be unafraid to throw that metaphorical no-look pass. Either it will connect or you’ll learn something valuable from the experience.

🔷 When plans break down, Mahomes thinks on his feet, pivots, and makes big plays. He is the only QB in NFL history to have a win percentage over .500 when trailing by double digits. Other QBs average a .158 win percentage in the same situation.
🔷 Clark's philosophy of 'living for the now' defines her style of play. “Don’t let it overwhelm you. Don’t let the moment pass you by… I play this game because I love it. I play because it’s fun… I've been able to find a lot of joy and calmness in that."
𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒖𝒔 – It’s not about avoiding the storm; it’s about dancing in the rain. The ability to stay cool under pressure, adapt to unexpected challenges, and lead with grace during tough times can define us as leaders.

🔷 Clark doesn't just lead the NCAA in points, she also leads in assists. She is committed to supporting other players and ensuring the team’s success, not just her own.
🔷 In negotiating his contract, Mahomes chose to prioritize building a strong team over maximizing his own earnings. His actions ensured the Chiefs had the capital to pay other team members fairly.
𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒖𝒔 – Excellence isn’t a solo act. Nurture a culture of collaboration and value each team member’s unique strengths. Success is sweeter when shared.
What a joy it's been to watch them pursue excellence!
